Unconventional Xbox controller fix....

Writer's picture: michael michael

I use an Xbox controller with some of the games I play on PC. Lately it's been Brawllhalla, now you don't really need a controller for the game, however it is more enjoyable and I've grown to prefer it.

So the R trigger seized up on me the other night mid-game. It went in and would not release at all. So I took it apart and cleaned it out with rubbing alcohol as a couple sites recommended. It seemed to work for all of 5 minutes and then went back to seizing. So I look around the house and garage for WD-40 or something similar and come up empty handed. I decide to ask my roommate if he had anything that might work and turns out he did....kind of....

The only type of lubricant he had was a silicone based one. I figured that would work and asked him if I could borrow it. I was expecting a silicone lubricant like liquid wrench or something like that. Nope. He had Astroglide. I had never heard of it before, however, seeming as it came from the nightstand by his bed I ascertained what it was for.

Long story short - my R trigger works better and smoother than the day I got the controller 🤣🤣
